Express Mcp Sse Server
What is Express Mcp Sse Server
express-mcp-sse-server is an implementation of a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that facilitates real-time communication through Server-Sent Events (SSE). It standardizes the management and communication of models and resources in applications.
Use cases
Use cases include real-time dashboards for monitoring data, live notifications for user interactions, and collaborative applications where multiple users need to see updates simultaneously.
How to use
To use express-mcp-sse-server, clone the repository and install dependencies using Yarn. Start the server in development mode with ‘yarn dev’ or in production mode with ‘yarn start’. The server runs on port 3001 by default, but this can be changed by setting the ‘PORT’ environment variable.
Key features
Key features include a Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementation, real-time communication via Server-Sent Events (SSE), and resource templating and management.
Where to use
express-mcp-sse-server can be used in web applications that require real-time data updates, such as dashboards, notifications, and collaborative tools.
Clients Supporting MCP
The following are the main client software that supports the Model Context Protocol. Click the link to visit the official website for more information.

Example MCP SSE Server
A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server implementation, enabling server-sent events (SSE) based communication.
Overview
Example MCP SSE Server provides a Model Context Protocol implementation that allows for real-time communication using Server-Sent Events (SSE).
It’s designed to work with applications and provides a standardized way of managing and communicating with models and resources.
Features
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementation
- Server-Sent Events (SSE) for real-time communication
- Resource templating and management
Prerequisites
- Node.js (v14 or higher recommended)
- Yarn package manager (can be changed easily)
Installation
Clone the repository and install dependencies:
git clone [email protected]:yunusemredilber/express-mcp-sse-server.git
cd express-mcp-sse-server
yarn install
Usage
Starting the Server
To start the server in development mode:
yarn dev
This will run the server with the MCP inspector for debugging.

To start the server in production mode:
yarn start
By default, the server runs on port 3001. You can override this by setting the PORT environment variable:
PORT=5000 yarn start
Endpoints
/sse- SSE endpoint for establishing persistent connections/messages- Endpoint for sending messages to the MCP server
